Prayer Request from Daniel Eguiluz

May 13th, 2009

Hello friends,

I pray this letter finds you well. As most of you know, I am in the middle of my training at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS). It has been a great time of learning for me, not only academically, but also spiritually as I have been trusting God through some intense new experiences in this chapter of my life. Last year’s World Evangelization Conference (WEC) at DTS got me started thinking about where in the world I could serve as I missionary after graduating from DTS.

As I have considered where in the world a ministry of evangelism and teaching by a Peruvian-American such as myself would be most fruitful, I have become convinced that Southern Spain is the place to go. First of all, there is no other country in the English or Spanish speaking world with less evangelical believers than Spain. A mere 0.4% of Spaniards would be considered evangelical believers, that is, only 1 of every 200 Spaniards! Secondly, Southern Spain is the bridge between North Africa and Europe. There are approximately 450,000 Muslims in Spain (Operation World, 585). The possibilities for ministry to North African Muslims in South Spain are endless.

For the last number of months I have maintained correspondence with Chris Matthews, an American East-West missionary to Seville who trains local Spanish ministers at a growing evangelical school of theology (www.centroalandalus.com). He has invited me to pay him a visit in order to check out his work. My visit would not only give me a glimpse to Chris’ missionary work, but it would also allow me to meet many local students who are serving in other ways in Southern Spain.

I am writing to you today because I believe that you and I share the same passion for the evangelization of the world to the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you believe that the Lord is leading me to serve him in South Spain, I invite you to participate in this act of worship. Would you consider making a joyful donation to the financing of my trip to Seville? My goal is to raise $1,500 by the end of this month, May 2009 (the trip is on May 30th). This would cover the roundtrip ticket, food and transportation for my two-week stay. I would ask you to please keep me in your prayers, even if it is not possible for you to contribute any amount, so that God would lead me into the good works He has prepared for me.

Once again, thank your for your partnership. May the joy of the Lord fill your hearts.

In Christ,

Danny
